JEWELLERY CARE

Your jewellery is made to be worn, enjoyed and made part of your story.

Like all jewellery, however, each piece deserves a little care to help preserve its appearance for as long as possible.

Because Lua & Solis pieces are created using different materials, stones and finishes, the way they naturally age may vary from one design to another.

Follow these simple recommendations to help keep your jewellery looking its best.

KEEP YOUR JEWELLERY DRY

Whenever possible, avoid prolonged contact with water.

We recommend removing your jewellery before:

  • Showering or bathing

  • Swimming

  • Exercising

  • Visiting a sauna or steam room

  • Sleeping

Repeated exposure to moisture can gradually affect certain metals, plated finishes and decorative elements.

If your jewellery does become wet, gently dry it with a clean, soft cloth before storing it.

AVOID PERFUMES, LOTIONS AND CHEMICALS

Perfume, hairspray, moisturiser, sunscreen, cosmetics and household cleaning products can affect the surface and finish of jewellery over time.

A simple rule to remember:

Jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.

Allow perfumes, lotions and beauty products to dry before putting your jewellery on.

Avoid exposing your pieces directly to:

  • Perfume

  • Hairspray

  • Creams and lotions

  • Cleaning products

  • Chlorine

  • Harsh chemicals

CLEAN GENTLY

After wearing your jewellery, gently wipe the piece with a clean, dry and soft cloth.

This can help remove oils, moisture and residue left naturally by your skin.

Avoid abrasive cloths, brushes or harsh jewellery cleaners unless the cleaning method is specifically suitable for the material of your piece.

When in doubt, gentle dry cleaning is the safest approach.

STORE YOUR PIECES SEPARATELY

When you're not wearing your jewellery, keep it in a clean, cool and dry place.

Whenever possible, store pieces separately rather than allowing several items to rub against one another.

This can help reduce:

  • Scratches

  • Tangling

  • Friction

  • Damage to stones or decorative elements

Chains should ideally be fastened before being stored to help prevent knots.

HANDLE WITH CARE

Jewellery can contain delicate chains, clasps, stones and decorative details.

Avoid pulling, twisting or applying unnecessary pressure to your pieces.

We also recommend removing jewellery during activities where it could be knocked, scratched or caught on clothing or other objects.

CARING FOR PLATED JEWELLERY

Some Lua & Solis pieces may feature plated or coloured finishes.

Plating naturally changes gradually with wear, and its longevity can depend on factors such as:

  • Frequency of use

  • Contact with water

  • Skin chemistry

  • Perspiration

  • Cosmetics

  • Friction

  • How the jewellery is stored

This is a natural characteristic of plated jewellery and does not necessarily indicate a manufacturing fault.

To help preserve a plated finish, keep the piece dry and minimise contact with cosmetics and chemicals.

CARING FOR STERLING SILVER

Some pieces in our collection are made from 925 sterling silver.

Sterling silver may naturally develop tarnish over time when exposed to air, moisture and substances present in the environment.

This is a normal characteristic of silver.

For light cleaning, gently wipe the piece with a soft cloth suitable for silver jewellery.

Avoid aggressive polishing or abrasive products that could affect decorative stones or plated finishes that may also be present on the piece.

Always check the individual product details before using specialised cleaning products.

CARING FOR STONES

Several Lua & Solis designs feature decorative stones such as cubic zirconia or moissanite.

To help protect their appearance:

  • Avoid strong impacts.

  • Avoid scratching the stones against hard surfaces.

  • Keep them away from harsh chemicals.

  • Wipe gently with a soft cloth after use.

  • Store the piece carefully when not being worn.

Avoid attempting to bend settings or adjust stones yourself.

If a stone appears loose, stop wearing the piece until it can be properly assessed.

WHY DOES JEWELLERY SOMETIMES CHANGE OVER TIME?

Jewellery naturally reacts to the environment around it.

Its appearance may gradually be influenced by moisture, skin oils, perspiration, cosmetics, chemicals, storage conditions and frequency of wear.

Different metals and finishes respond differently.

This is why the Product Details section of each Lua & Solis piece identifies the relevant materials whenever available.

Proper care can help preserve the appearance of your jewellery, but no jewellery finish should be considered permanently resistant to everyday wear.

EVERYDAY CARE — THE SIMPLE VERSION

For an easy routine, remember these five steps:

1. Keep it dry.
Remove jewellery before showering, swimming or exercising.

2. Avoid chemicals.
Keep it away from perfume, lotions and cleaning products.

3. Wipe after wearing.
Use a clean, soft, dry cloth.

4. Store separately.
Protect pieces from scratching and tangling.

5. Handle gently.
Avoid pulling, rubbing and impact.

A little care goes a long way.
